Hi everyone. This is Robyn Thompson. I’m proud to have Alan Cowgill here with me today. He is the president of Integrity Home Buyers located in Springfield, Ohio. Alan is a successful real estate investor and has bought and sold over a hundred investment properties in the last few years. Most of what he does is, while working in the corporate world, he is a full-time investor.

Alan congratulations to you and your success. Can you tell my listeners a little bit about you and your background, and what brought you into the world of real estate investing.

Yes, thanks Robyn. I was a renter for 19 years. I was living in a two bedroom apartment, and I was broke. I was bored; and I knew that if things didn’t change in my life, I was going to retire broke. I was up at two o’clock in the morning, frustrated. I was channel surfing, and I ran across an infomercial on real estate. They wanted $159 for the course, and I didn’t have the money. To be honest with you, I had gone out that day and spent my money on lottery tickets. But I did have a credit card, and they had a 30-day money-back guarantee--which really caught my interest. So I picked up the telephone, and I ordered the course with full intention of looking it over and then returning the course. But instead I became enthralled with real estate. I kept the course; and here, eight years later- -like you said--I have bought and sold over one hundred properties. Most of that time, I was working a full time job.

Initially I started out with the buy and hold philosophy, which means that I buy a property and then I rent it out. In fact, I still own the first property that I ever purchased.
